Mobile app MVP in Argentina (2026): cost, timeline and what to leave out

How much a mobile app MVP costs and how long it takes in Argentina in 2026: USD ranges, a timeline with the app stores included and what to leave out of version one.

If you open a personal Google Play account today, your app can't go to production until 12 testers have had it installed for 14 days in a row. It rarely shows up in a development quote, and it's two weeks that go straight into the schedule. That's the kind of thing that separates a mobile app MVP from a web one: the code is one part of the road, and the other part is the app stores, real phones and decisions like native or hybrid.

We've already covered how much a SaaS MVP costs and how long an MVP takes in general. This one is about what's specific to mobile: ranges, a timeline with the stores included and what to leave out.

What changes compared to a web MVP

  • Publishing requires permission. Apple and Google review every version before it reaches users.
  • There are two ecosystems. iOS and Android each have their own accounts, rules and testing.
  • You use phone features. Push notifications, camera and location get tested on real devices, not in the browser.
  • Fixing a bug isn't instant. On the web you deploy and you're done; on mobile there's a new version, a review and users who have to update.

How much a mobile app MVP costs in 2026

These are the ranges published by development agencies abroad:

SourceWhat it measuresInvestment (USD)
NetguruSingle-platform MVP25,000 to 60,000
NetguruMedian of a cross-platform MVP (login, API, 8 to 12 screens), based on more than 200 of their own apps76,000
TopflightMid-size app40,000 to 60,000

Those figures come from agencies abroad. At Manivela we can bring prices down a lot depending on the scope of each project: an MVP limited to a single flow doesn't cost the same as one with payments, real time and several integrations.

Behind those numbers are hourly rates. Netguru puts its seniors at USD 130 to 220 in North America and Western Europe; Topflight, citing Accelerance (2026), puts Latin America at USD 60 to 75. That's why quoting against foreign agencies changes the number so much.

What drives price and timeline

LevelWhat it includesTime
MinimumOne core flow, one user role, 5 to 8 screens, login, no payments inside the app3 to 4 months
FunctionalAndroid and iOS from one codebase, 2 roles, backend with a web admin panel, push notifications, one payment method, analytics4 to 6 months
RobustReal time (maps, chat), offline mode, several integrations, complex business rules6 to 9 months

The timelines are our own estimates: they start from those of a web MVP we published and add the work specific to mobile (builds, device testing and store paperwork). Every piece you add to a level, such as payments, real time, offline mode or integrations, is what moves both the investment and the timeline the most. Prices here are in USD; if you pay in another currency, the value depends on the exchange rate on the day of the quote.

Costs that aren't in the development quote

  • Apple account: USD 99 per year.
  • Google Play account: USD 25, one time.
  • Commissions: if you sell digital content inside the app, Apple charges 30% (15% under its Small Business Program) and Google 15% on the first USD 1 million per year. If you don't charge inside the app, they don't apply.
  • Maintenance: between 15% and 25% of the build cost per year, according to Netguru and Topflight.
  • D-U-N-S: organization accounts on Apple and Google require it. Apple estimates up to 7 business days between requesting it and being able to enroll.

Native or hybrid

For an MVP, we almost always recommend cross-platform (React Native or Flutter): one codebase for Android and iOS. Netguru calculates that it cuts the cost of shipping on both platforms by 30% to 40% compared to building two native apps in parallel.

Native (Swift and Kotlin) makes sense if the product pushes the hardware hard (augmented reality, real-time video, complex Bluetooth) or if you know you'll only be on one platform.

As for which one first: according to StatCounter, in August 2026 Android accounted for 82% of mobile web traffic in Argentina and iOS for 18%. If your audience is local and mass-market, start with Android. If it's B2B, premium or international, check your own data before assuming anything.

How long it takes, with the stores included

Timeline for a functional MVP of 4 to 6 months:

WeeksStage
1 and 2Technical analysis and clickable prototype. In parallel, the Apple and Google accounts are opened under your company's name
3 to 6Foundation: backend, authentication, data model, automated builds
7 to 14Core flow and phone features, tested on real devices
15 to 18Closed beta with users and adjustments
19 to 22Store review, fixes and launch

Apple reports that on average 90% of submissions are reviewed in under 24 hours, and Google mentions up to 7 days or more in exceptional cases. It's worth reserving two weeks in case of a rejection. The rule of 12 testers for 14 days applies to personal Google Play accounts created after November 13, 2023, which is why the closed beta comes before launch.

How to validate without publishing on the stores

  1. Clickable prototype. You can test it with real users in week 2, without writing any code.
  2. Mobile web app (PWA). On iOS, web push notifications work from iOS 16.4 and only if the user adds the app to their home screen. It works if your hypothesis doesn't depend on advanced phone features.
  3. Private beta. TestFlight supports up to 10,000 external testers and 100 internal ones, with builds valid for 90 days. Google Play internal testing is shared by URL and doesn't appear in the catalog.
  4. A manual service behind the scenes. The app captures the request and a person handles it by hand. You automate once you confirm there's demand.

What NOT to put in the first version

  • Two separate native apps. They double the work without validating anything more.
  • Payments and subscriptions inside the app. They add rules, commissions and paperwork. If the model allows it, charge outside the app at first.
  • Full offline mode. Syncing data without a connection is among the most expensive things to build well.
  • Chat, social feed and gamification. They're entire modules that don't validate your core hypothesis.
  • An admin panel as an app. Build it on the web, it's cheaper and more comfortable to operate.
  • Your website wrapped in an app. Apple's guideline 4.2 asks that the app go beyond a repackaged website, and a collection of links doesn't fit its rules.

What does belong, even if it looks like a detail: account deletion from within the app itself (Apple requires it if there's user sign-up), error reporting and analytics from day one, and the store accounts in your name. Otherwise you're tied to whoever publishes for you, as we explained in this analysis of "Uber-like apps in 30 days".

How we approach it at Manivela

We start with a first technical meeting and an estimate before signing, and the price is adjusted to the scope of each project. If your MVP fits better as a website or a PWA, we'll tell you, even if the development ends up smaller. Learn how we work in custom software development.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a mobile app MVP cost in Argentina, and how long does it take?
Agencies abroad publish between USD 25,000 and 60,000 for a single-platform MVP (Netguru) and a median of USD 76,000 for a cross-platform one. Working from Argentina the price can drop a lot depending on scope: at Manivela we tailor it to each project. On timeline, we estimate 3 to 4 months for a minimum MVP and 4 to 6 months for a functional one, covering both Android and iOS.
How much does it cost to publish an app on Google Play and the App Store?
Google Play charges USD 25 one time and the Apple Developer Program costs USD 99 per year. On top of that, the stores take a commission if you sell digital content inside the app: Apple 30% (15% under its Small Business Program) and Google 15% on the first USD 1 million per year. Organization accounts on both stores require a D-U-N-S number.
Can you validate a mobile app without publishing it on the stores?
Yes, with a clickable prototype, a mobile web app or a private beta. TestFlight allows up to 10,000 external testers on iOS, and Google Play internal testing is shared by link without appearing in the catalog. That way you validate the idea before going through Apple and Google review.
